OFCAF — On-Farm Climate Action Fund

What it is: A federal program delivering a 70% rebate on rotational grazing infrastructure. Eligible items include cross-fencing, water systems, portable fencing units like the Range Ward Razer Grazer, and pasture seeding. Up to $100,000 per applicant.

Who qualifies: Active Alberta producers with at least $25,000 gross farm income. Cow-calf, yearling, and mixed grain/cattle operations. Delivered in Alberta by CFGA and ARECA.

The critical rule: You must receive written pre-approval before purchasing any equipment. Purchases made before approval are not eligible for reimbursement.

The Razer Grazer opportunity: The Range Ward Razer Grazer portable fencing system ($11,499 CAD) is explicitly eligible under this program. At 70% reimbursement, your out-of-pocket cost is approximately $3,450.

70% rebate · Up to $100,000 · Program runs to March 2028

AgriStability — Federal Business Risk Management

What it is: A federal program that provides payments to farmers when their farm income margin falls significantly below their historical average. It's designed to help producers survive bad years caused by low commodity prices, high input costs, or production losses.

Who qualifies: Farmers who file a farm tax return in Canada and have at least $100,000 in allowable gross revenue. You must enroll each year and pay a program fee.

Why farmers miss out: The application requires calculating a reference margin from several years of historical data, and comparing it to the current year margin. Most farmers find this confusing and either don't file, file incorrectly, or leave money on the table.

How we help: We review your tax records, calculate your reference margin, and prepare complete documentation to maximize your claim.

Potentially thousands of dollars per year · Many eligible farmers never claim

Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP)

What it is: A federal-provincial cost-share framework that funds a wide range of farm improvement programs. Each province administers its own streams. In Alberta, active streams have included precision agriculture adoption, environmental farm planning, agri-processing, and on-farm food safety.

Who qualifies: Eligibility varies by stream. Most require you to be a registered farm operation in Alberta with active production.

Why it matters: CAP streams open and close throughout the year, and popular programs fill their budgets quickly. Farmers who aren't monitoring the program miss opportunities regularly.

How we help: We monitor CAP stream openings and alert you when something relevant to your operation opens. Start with a pre-planning consultation to identify which streams apply to you.

Farm Credit Canada (FCC) — Business Plans

What it is: Farm Credit Canada is the primary agricultural lender in Canada. Whether you're buying land, financing a major equipment purchase, or renewing your operating line, FCC will typically ask for a business plan and financial summary.

The challenge: Most farmers have all the information in their heads but struggle to put it on paper in the format lenders expect. A poorly prepared business plan can delay or derail financing that should be straightforward.

How we help: We build FCC-ready business plans written to lender expectations. Your numbers, your operation — put on paper professionally and clearly.

Required for most FCC financing · Presented professionally increases approval confidence

Carbon Credits — Alberta TIER & Voluntary Markets

What it is: Alberta has its own carbon pricing system (TIER) that allows farms to generate and sell carbon offset credits for practices that reduce emissions or sequester carbon. Voluntary markets also exist where companies purchase agricultural carbon credits.

Who may qualify: Producers practising no-till or reduced-till cropping, cover cropping, improved grazing management, or fertilizer efficiency improvements may be generating credits they've never been paid for.

How we help: We assess your current farming practices against Alberta TIER eligibility requirements and connect you with approved aggregators who can enroll you and manage the credit process.

Potential ongoing annual income · Many producers already qualify and don't know it

Farm Succession Planning Documents

What it is: Transferring a farm operation to the next generation is one of the most complex and emotionally charged processes a farm family faces. Without proper planning documents, it often leads to family conflict, unexpected tax consequences, and legal costs that could have been avoided.

How we help: We prepare the initial framework documents — farm transfer summaries, asset inventories, and family communication frameworks — that give your lawyer a clear foundation to work from. This reduces your legal hours significantly and makes the conversation easier for everyone.

Note: We are not lawyers and do not provide legal advice. Our documents are preparation frameworks to take to your solicitor, not legal instruments.

Reduces legal costs · Makes difficult conversations easier · Priced per project
