Funding for New Farm
Buildings & Storage

Alberta producers building new equipment or grain storage structures may qualify for substantial government funding. We do the research and application work — you build.

Do Not Break Ground Before You Apply Funding approval must be in place before construction begins — no exceptions.

Every major Alberta farm building program — including the On-Farm Efficiency Program and On-Farm Value-Added Program — requires that your application be submitted and approved before any construction activity starts. This includes site prep, gravel delivery for the pad, demolition, and any material staging on site.

⚠️

If construction has already started, you are no longer eligible for these programs. There are no exceptions and no retroactive approvals. The single most important thing you can do is contact us before you break ground — not after.

More funding is available than most producers realize

A new equipment storage or grain handling building may qualify across several provincial and federal programs — not just for the structure itself, but for insulation, heating systems, monitoring equipment, and energy efficiency upgrades. The key is knowing which programs to stack and how to present the project correctly.

Alberta Funding Programs

Sustainable CAP

On-Farm Efficiency Program

The most broadly applicable program for new storage and equipment buildings. Covers eligible components at a 50% cost-share, including insulation, heating systems, temperature and moisture monitoring, and energy efficiency upgrades.

Up to $150,000 per applicant over the program duration Multiple streams can be accessed within the same project
Sustainable CAP

On-Farm Value-Added Program

Applicable where the storage or processing building supports a value-added activity — grain drying, processing, or product handling. Two streams are available depending on project size and scope.

Up to $250,000 (Stream B) or $50,000 (Stream A) 25–50% cost-share depending on expense type
Alberta Agriculture

Emerging Opportunities Grant

Designed for producers undertaking significant new builds or capacity expansions with an innovation or efficiency focus. Higher minimum investment thresholds apply, making this best suited to larger projects.

Up to $2,000,000 per project Suited for larger operations with major capital builds

Program Stacking

Provincial and federal programs can often be combined on the same project. A new building with insulation, a heat pump, and grain monitoring equipment could access two or three funding streams simultaneously — significantly reducing out-of-pocket cost.

Program stacking is legal and encouraged Proper project presentation is critical to approval

Simple, Transparent Pricing

Building & Storage Funding Assessment
Quoted

Pricing is quoted after your pre-planning consultation (Step 2) based on the programs and scope of work involved. All pricing is confirmed in writing before any work begins.

For projects where approved funding exceeds $50,000, a 1% success fee applies on the total approved amount.
Example: $100,000 approval = quoted application fee + $1,000 success fee.
